The Cortez Chamber of Commerce kicks off a free leadership skill course on January 15th. Montezuma County will hold a town hall meeting on Monday, January 13th. The Mancos Creative District is seeking artists to help add new classes to its lineup. Montezuma County and Community Connections Festival of Wreaths, experienced record breaking involvement this Christmas season. The Cortez Chamber of Commerce is offering a free six week course on the fundamentals of leadership and management. Classes for the winter session will be held from three to 5:00 PM on Wednesdays, beginning January 15th. Classes will be a mix of in-person and virtual learning. The Cortez Chamber of Commerce will also be hosting a spring session in March with a different leadership topic. The courses are held in partnership with Project Rural Upskill Network or RUN. You can reserve spots for up to two participants per employer on Project RUN’s website. The Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners is inviting residents to share their thoughts and help build a stronger community by attending the Town Hall meeting on Monday, January 13th. The meeting will be held at the Mancos Community Center from six to 8:00 PM and will include a discussion of local issues, updates, and time for questions. The Mancos Creative District is seeking four artists to teach an art or craft class at the Mancos Public Library. Having received a folk and traditional arts project grant from Colorado Creative Industries, the Mancos Creative District is looking to add new classes with art from different cultural traditions this January through June. Teaching artists are encouraged to apply on the website and will be paid a stipend and supported to create their class. The Cortez Retail Enhancement Association announced the results of the Community Connections. 21st Annual Festival of Trees and Fifth Annual Festival of Wreaths. Montezuma County experienced record breaking involvement this year, including 60 wreaths on display and over 89 participants in the scavenger hunt. The People’s Choice winners were also announced with first place awarded to Manus Liquors. Between Cortez and Durango, the Festival of Trees and Wreaths showcased 26 Trees, 72 wreaths and had 136 sponsors raising over $70,000.
