You’re watching the Local News Network brought to you by Mercy Sports Medicine and Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers. Carver’s Brewing Company turns 40 this Thursday, October 8th, with a celebration from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the pub and beer garden. The evening includes a classic Carver’s buffet, beer tasting, a photo show, and a commemorative pint glass. Tickets are $40 in advance or $50 at the door, and attendees must be 21 or older. On Friday, October 9th, volunteers are needed for a Hermosa Creek rehabilitation workday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM above purgatory. Organizers are looking for up to 30 volunteers to help spread seeds and plant willows as part of an ongoing effort to restore Hermosa Creek as a native cutthroat trout fishery. Tools and materials are provided and brats and beverages will be served afterwards. And on Sunday, October 11th, the first ever Durango Marathon starts at Santa Rita Park at 7:30 AM, followed by a half marathon and a 5K. The marathon and half marathon course climbs through East Durango past Fort Lewis College and finishes on the Animas River Trail. With a beer garden at the finish line, part of the proceeds support scholarships through the Durango Education Foundation. For more events happening in your area, visit whatshappeningdurango.com.
