Summer Internships Abound at SJC

San Juan County has a variety of open, paid internships for high school students and recent graduates this summer. First Tee Four Corners announces the schedule for the summer junior golf program and a special veterans league. Take advantage of a six-week paid opportunity to explore careers in San Juan County. The positions are open to all San Juan County high school students and/or recent graduates. The program begins June 19th. Find more information and submit your application online at San Juan County’s website. First Tee Four Corners, a program dedicated to teaching and mentoring children and youths through golf, has released the schedule for its summer junior golf program. June programs begin this week and run Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays for ages seven through high school. July programs begin July 11th and run Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. All programs are at the Riverview Golf Course in Kirkland. Find more information and sign up online at the First Tee Four Corners website. First Tee is also offering a veterans golf league every other Wednesday, beginning June 14th. Space is limited to the first 40 veterans to sign up, so call to register sooner than later. San Juan Regional Medical Center invites you to join them at the Farmington Museum Thursday, June 15th from 4:00 to 5:30 pm to hear the results of the community health needs assessment survey and provide comments and feedback. The health needs assessment is done every three years to better understand the community’s needs and if they are being met. The 2023 assessment was conducted in March and April and used county-level and census data alongside customized local health surveys. The goal is to determine the top needs of the community and what needs to be addressed first. Once the needs are prioritized, San Juan Regional Medical Center will create a task force to address the needs with actionable steps. Make sure to RSVP to Roberta Rogers if you intend to attend. Come join the City of Farmington to celebrate the many ways we play in San Juan County this weekend! Head to the Farmington Museum and Visitor Center this Saturday, June 10th, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm to see all the different ways to jolt your summer fun. There will be a variety of booths and exhibitions, including a disc golf putting course, and you can’t miss Zook the T Rex, an eight-foot-tall and 20-foot-long dinosaur that will be roaming the event! There will also be a number of presentations beginning at 10:30 am covering a variety of outdoor activities, resources, safety, and more. With live music and food, its an event for the whole family!
