New Kiosk at City Hall

A new addition to City Hall should help make residents’ lives easier. Durango Parks and Recreation, Durango Fire Protection District, and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control have planned prescribed burns in Dalla Mountain Park and Overend Mountain Park this December, weather permitting. I’m Hannah Robertson. The city of Durango has installed a new self-help kiosk in City Hall. Residents can use the kiosk to apply for a job or business license, make payments, search city records, file an open records request, and more. The kiosk is an alternative when the cashier is otherwise occupied or not available. An attendant will be present to assist residents with the kiosk, and there will also be a phone and intercom to ask questions. The kiosk is a resource, especially for residents who do not have access to a computer or an internet connection, to conduct business with the city. City Hall is located at 949 East 2nd Avenue and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. For a full list of City Hall services, visit durangogov.org. Durango Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Durango Fire Protection District and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, are planning prescribed burns of slash piles in Dalla Mountain Park and Overend Mountain Park. Slash piles are a form of fire mitigation where easily kindled materials, such as dried leaves and needles, fallen branches, and the like, are gathered into piles and then disposed of through various means. The burns will take place sometime this month, weather permitting. During the burn, both parks will remain open, but users should be aware of Durango Fire Protection District and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control vehicles that may be in the area. Smoke and fire may be visible during and after the project, but Durango Parks and Recreation, Durango Fire Protection District, and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention will be monitoring the situation at all times. Cocktails for Conservation, La Plata Open Space Conservancy’s Snowdown fundraiser, is now selling tickets. The event, which features pairings of chocolate and cocktails by Animas Chocolate Company, is an annual fundraiser for La Plata Open Space Conservancy. The event, which will take place at Animus Chocolate Company’s downtown store, is Thursday, February 2nd. A VIP event will kick off the evening from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, followed by general admission, 5:30 to 8:00 PM. Space is limited, so make sure to buy tickets to the event soon.
