The Aztec Museum announced it has received a $1,450 grant from the Denver Foundation’s Greenwood Fund to repair the museum’s Pecos West Cyclorama. The Granite, in addition to funds from the city of Aztec will be used to hire a mechanical engineer to rebuild the engine that powers the 3000 pound rotating Southwest landscape display. Pecos West was built in the 1960s by a local World War II veteran and donated to the museum in 2015 where it operated until last year when the engine stopped working. Leftover funds will be used for other maintenance projects at the museum. Work on the cyclorama is expected to begin early this year. The museum is currently open for appointment only. Call to schedule an appointment to view the exhibits at 505-334-9829. The museum will open for its summer season in May, 2023. That’s it for this week’s “Local News Roundup”. I’m Hayley Opsal.
