Fishing Derby Returns to Farmington for Its Second Year

The Farmington Fire Department’s Annual Cancer Awareness fundraiser began October 1st, an estimated 7 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease. Learn how you can promote Alzheimer’s awareness and support research efforts, and join the River Reach Foundation at the Animus River for the second annual fishing derby. The Farmington Fire Department’s Annual Cancer Awareness Shirt Sale began Wednesday, October 1st. You may purchase a T-shirt between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday at the Farmington Fire Station. While supplies last shirts are $20 each, all proceeds benefit the San Juan Medical Foundation’s Kathy Lincoln Memorial Cancer Fund. To provide financial assistance to San Juan County. Women in Cancer treatment funds may support diagnostic testing, medical exams, medication, and treatment related travel. The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to end Alzheimer’s is Saturday, October 11th at Berg Park. The walk is two miles with a shorter option for those who prefer registration opens at 9:00 AM and the ceremony will begin at 10:00 AM The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a nationwide event and is the world’s largest event. To raise Alzheimer’s awareness, proceed support. The Alzheimer’s Association Walk registration is free. With the nation’s encouraged registered participants who raise a minimum of a hundred dollars will be mailed A Walk to End Alzheimer’s T-shirt. The Derby is from eight to 11:00 AM at Cottonwood Landing and the all Veterans Memorial Plaza along the Animus River near Tucker Avenue, the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will stalk the river. The competition has categories for children, teens, and adults. Participants will compete for first, second, and third place prizes in each category. You must have a fishing license to participate.
