Budgets are moral documents. They put in dollars and cents exactly what we value and how much we value it. And the same is true for our investments. We need to be investing in housing in Colorado so that working folks like nurses, teachers and firefighters can live in the communities that they serve.
It’s very simple because you know, anyone who served in the military knows this just to be very true. And that is your obligation is to the constitution, your obligation is to the rule of law, and you have an obligation to follow lawful orders and to disobey unlawful orders. I know there’s a lot of people concerned about the rule of law and about the cruelty that’s happened. Concerned about our kids’ future, concerned about our optimist about what type of economic future we can have. But when I’m here in Durango, looking at what you’ve done, learning from you, I’m inspired. I’m hopeful because I believe we can and we will build a better future.
