  Biking gets kids off of screens. It gets them outdoors out in the sunshine. I believe bikes are the solution to a lot of the world’s problems. I think if more people would be on bikes, we’d have a better world because people that ride bikes are better people. They’re just happier. Happier people are better people. You’re watching the local news network, brought to you by Home2 Suites by Hilton and Sunray Park and Casino. We’re here trying to build a track for the community. It’s a BMX racetrack. It’ll be sanctioned through USABMX. We’re hoping to break ground the beginning of October and be open this year. Well, right now we’re bringing in dirt. We have basically two acres of property that the, that the city gave us to use or leased us to use. It starts basically all the way in this corner. We’ll come all the way around to this next corner where the fence is. We’re coming all the way past over here, just under the power line, and then back across to where the park is. And this building here is going to be our concessions and our registration. We’re going to hopefully, eventually we’re planning on having lights so we can run night races. It’s All about the kids. Our kid races BMX. He’s been doing it for about six years now. He’s training to hopefully go pro. And a bunch of the kids in this area have to travel up to Durango or down to Albuquerque to race. In fact, all the kids in Aztec and Farmington, their home track is Albuquerque, which is a very long drive for these kids. So we wanted to bring something to them where they could race here and be competitive with the other tracks in New Mexico since they’re open year round. And Durango’s only open about five months a year. So we wanted to give them that opportunity and just give them something fun to do. So the USABMX is going to come out and design us our track. So I don’t know exactly the layout yet until they, they have it on paper, but they have our maps. They know everything that we want. We’ve told them our, our, our wishes and desires and, and they’re going to make us something really awesome and rad for us kids to be racing out here. Of their people and their experts, and they built us our first track to get it sanctioned and ready to go. So it’s up to their specs. So it’s a good quality track and not like a, like a hell track from the movies with spare tires and, and rocks and stuff you’re dumping over. So it’s a real USA BMX track. I think it’s going to have a big impact both for the kids and the activities they can do and financially for the community. A big race here can bring in thousands of dollars in revenue for the city. So I think that’s fantastic. Additionally it’s going to give these kids after school programs to do. It’s going to give them something to do on the weekend. We’re planning on working with the school and doing a STEM project with the kids teaching them how to build bikes, things like that too. So it should be great. We will have a loaner bike fleet. And we’ll have Strider races for the kids. We plan to do some things through the schools, through STEM programs. Get kids down here on bikes. To reach out, you can email us at [email protected].
