Five Colorado Photographers Will Compete for No. 1

Five Southwest Colorado Locals will compete for best photographer at the Colorado Pro Photographer Showdown, the Durango Creative District and Durango Art Center. Prepare for the holidays and home to go ranked three Southwest Colorado Ski Resorts on its top 70 list for visitor value. Five of Colorado’s best photographers will showcase their work on Wednesday, November 19th at the Colorado Pro Photographer Showdown, presented by the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gate Railroad. The award-winning photographers will showcase images captured locally and around the world in a 10 minute multimedia presentation at the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall. The event will include $2,000 in awards audience voting in a youth photography showcase. Open to middle and high school students in La Plata County. Students may submit photos online through Friday, November 7th. For tickets and details, visit photo showdown.org. The Durango art scene prepares for holiday markets with open calls for artists applications. The Durango Creative District’s Community Gallery will host a holiday popup show from December 5th through December 19th. Artists may submit up to three works of art through Friday, November 14th. To feature in the show, all mediums are welcome and pieces must be priced at $150 or less. The popup shows opening reception will coincide with Noelle Knight and First Friday. On Friday, December 5th, the Durango Arts Center seeks media and art for its annual gift market. The gift market will be open from November 14th to December 29th. Artists may register on the Durango Arts website for $65. Both events encouraged the community and visitors to purchase Affordable Art. Visit the Durango Creative District and Durango Arts Center websites home to go named 19 Colorado Ski Areas on its top 70 list of ski resorts ranked according to visitor value for the 20 25 20 26 season. The resorts were ranked based on size and the cost of an overnight stay in a lift ticket. Purgatory Resort was ranked as number six, followed by Wolf Creek Ski area at number nine and Telluride Ski Resort at 64 Purgatory Opening day will be Saturday, November 22nd. Telluride Ski Resort set a targeted opening for Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 27th. Wolf Creek Ski areas opening date is dependent on weather and will be announced later.
