The city of Durango seeks applicants for the Affordable Housing Planning Focus group. The San Juan Mountains Association prepares for Christmas and requests holiday volunteers for its annual fundraiser. And Fort Lewis College invites artificial intelligence experts to present on how rural communities can use ai. The city of Durango opened applications for an affordable housing planning focus group to design an expedited review process for affordable housing. The city will select up to 12 community members to draft and audit amendments to the land use and development code, analyze zone districts, and develop land use strategies and tools. The group will meet on Tuesday, December 9th, and again in the fall of 2026. Applications are open through Wednesday, November 19th. Applicants will be notified by Tuesday, November 25th. Visit the City of Durango website to apply, calling all Christmas elves and holiday merry makers. The San Juan Mountains Association seeks volunteers for its biggest fundraiser of the year. The Christmas trees for Conservation Tree lot SJMA needs, tree scouters, SARS carriers, netters and drivers for its Tree Harvest Day on Saturday, November 22nd in Bayfield. SJMA staff and volunteers will harvest about 400 trees. Jobs will be available for all physical level. Then starting on Friday, November 28th, help families find their perfect Christmas trees at the SJMA tree lot. The lot will be located on the corner of Camino Del Rio in West College. Drive in the Durango and Silverton narrow gauge railroad parking lot. All ages are invited to volunteer. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fort Lewis College will host the second annual four Corners Artificial Intelligence Conference, AI for rural communities from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM on Tuesday, December 16th at the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall. The conference will focus on how to use AI to strengthen rural communities, including how to apply AI technology to agriculture, small businesses, healthcare, education, and government sessions are open to all AI experience levels.
