Durango has a busy Memorial weekend ahead with the 23rd Annual Downtown Clean Day on Friday, May 22, the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic running Saturday and Sunday, and the Narrow Gauge 10 Mile Run on Sunday, May 24.

This Friday, May 22nd, the Durango Chamber of Commerce, the Business Improvement District, and the City of Durango are hosting the 23rd annual Downtown Clean Day. Volunteers are invited to meet at 8:30 AM at the Keller Williams Realty parking lot just north of 7th Street and Main Avenue. Coffee, tea, and light breakfast items will be provided along with work gloves and cleaning supplies to help freshen up downtown by picking up trash, sweeping sidewalks, and more. Cleaning begins at 9:00 AM and wraps up by noon. For more information, visit durangochamber.org. This weekend, the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic returns to Durango for Memorial Weekend. Now in its 55th year, the Iron Horse challenges cyclist with a 50 Mile Ride to Silverton with two 10,000 foot passes through the heart of the San Juan Mountains on the Durango to Silverton Highway. Saturday riders can also choose to participate in the Quarter Horse, a 25 mile route to Purgatory Resort. Sunday features a gravel race and a mountain bike race around Fort Lewis College and Chapman Hill. The weekend also includes a cycling festival in downtown Durango with live music and a beer garden. Last minute registration will be available Friday, May 22nd at Buckley Park from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. The 10 mile race starts at 8:00 AM, the 5K at 8:10 AM, and a free kids fun run follows at 9:45 AM. The event also features music and food. Race proceeds benefit the Fort Lewis College and Durango High School Track and Cross Country teams, as well as Liberty School and Animas High School.
